PROFILE OF HIGHWAY HIGH SCHOOL

1.0 BACKGROUND

     1.1        Highway High school is a mixed school established through Arab community self-help initiative and established in 2005. It is a two stream school located 1.5km from Central Business District and situated along the Kisumu Kakamega Highway. The school is in Kisumu county.

     1.2          The school constitute of:

             Students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff that is managed by Arab Reform Association (A.R.A) Board.

             The day to day affairs of the school are managed by the Administration manager and Academics is managed by the Principal.

             The teaching and non-teaching are paid by ARA.

             The school depends on fees paid by the students to meet its recurrent and non-recurrent expenditure on operations.

2.0 PHYSICAL FACILITIES

•The school has twelve classrooms including a staffroom.

•It has a library.

•It has one large laboratory for science practicals.

•It has a hall for school functions.

• It has an administration block that includes a reception, four offices, a small conference room, an exam room, store, tea room and washrooms.

•It has a mosque.

3.0 SCHOOLS’ POPULATION

•     The school is registered to accommodate a double stream form one to form four at forty students per class amounting to an enrollment of a maximum of 320 students.

• Based on curriculum establishment, the school has 16   teachers.

•We have six (7) non-teaching staff.
